Planet Green, pretty good from what I can tell

I sat down the last couple of evenings and took some time to watch the new Discovery Networks channel Planet Green.

I didn't catch a whole lot of it yesterday because I spent most of the evening watching MSNBC trying to figure out what was going on with Hillary, but I did like what I saw during the commercial breaks. Tonight though, I flipped over to watch The G Word and didn't flip back for about three hours. I even skipped Olbermann's show to watch Wasted.

All in all, it looks pretty cool and really promotes green living. I was entertained for several hours, and learned a few things along the way. If they had a green news program, it could potentially turn out to be my favorite channel.

Aaron Brown resurfaces

Aaron Brown's departure from CNN was pretty much the moment I decided I no longer had any use for the network. Don't get me wrong, I do tend to like Anderson Cooper, but there simply aren't any more journalists like Aaron Brown on any of the big three news networks. So I'm glad to see he's going to be coming back to television on PBS.

Low-key CNN anchor Aaron Brown was bumped aside in 2005 for Anderson Cooper. Now his CNN contract is up, and he’ll resurface next month as host of a PBS documentary series. He’s also pitching a public-radio show, appearing in an upcoming Kevin Costner movie as himself (“My worst nightmare,” he says), and teaching journalism at the University of Arizona. He spoke to Michael Martin.

CNN a tabloid? It's more likely than you think

Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's because it's almost 3:30 in the morning, or maybe it's because I've had a tad too much to drink. I'm not certain, but does this screenshot of the main paige at CNN.com bother anybody else?

Yes, it bothers me that they show a photograph kneeling in agony and sorrow over what they imply is an entire village buried under a landslide, swallowing the town and it's residents forever, and just below that they link to video urging people to watch the earthquake's destruction.

I don't think I'm being too sensitive when I say their sensationalism of death and destruction is not just reprehensible, but revolting. And yet they wonder why their ratings suck.
